Hello {{alias | friend}}, 👋🏽

It’s been over a month since the last issue, and this seems to be becoming a trend. 😭Hopefully, we’ll soon see why this one was late 🤞🏽.

Regardless, I apologize for the lateness 🙏🏽, and invite you to explore the details below.

Let’s dive in! 🪂

Life update

This season has been a busy and tiring one, {{alias | friend}} 😪.

I've had to scout for, and move into an apartment in the past month. It was exhausting. I remember the haulage guy belting "Lift! Lift!!" 😅. I didn't feel the pains from all that lifting till the next day 🤠. We're still settling in, but the apartment is in a much better shape than it was initially .

I've also had to travel to Lagos twice this past month 🚘.

Once for a Family Retreat and the most recent one was for a series of Missions Conferences. I was particularly happy to learn about the essential elements of Family Worship, and what that could look like practically. I had experimented with different things in the past 👨🏽‍🔬, and really needed some direction in that regard 🤠.

I must confess that my junk-to-proper-food ratio has been quite high in this season 🫣. My biological dad, being a healthy food advocate would be disappointed, and I wonder what God thinks of me in that regard 😭.

I used to have snacks handy in my room to quell any hunger that rears its head while I'm working. I've found that to be a lethal convenience, and I've moved them into the kitchen now, tucked away into a top drawer. Short me has to work to get snacks now 😅. Even then, I still take them a lot, in multiples too 🥲.

I have reasonable excuses for this behaviour, but I'm praying the Lord gives me a disdain for it, as it is sinful 🤲🏽.

In other news 🤠, I got a new Reformation Study Bible , courtesy of the Lux in Tenebris ministry.

I also got to connect with Jon from Gracious Tech, who’s been writing software for the Kingdom for a while, and we had a good time interacting.

I now have a new favourite translation - the Berean Standard Bible 😎. Wanna guess why? 🌚 Feel free to reach out!

Ministry update

In the past month, I spent most of my time working with Upstream, to wrap up the paid contract I had started earlier. By God's grace, we were able to deploy an app to the stores - Google Playstore and Appstore .

We pray and trust that the Lord will use this app to point His people in Bhutan towards Christ, the Source of life and only hope of this dying world 🤲🏽.

I've also requested permission to share the hymnal 👌🏽, but it's not been granted just yet. I will nudge the stakeholders once more, and Lord-willing, share it as soon as I have permission 🤞🏽.

Sadly, I didn't make any progress on Whatchu Believe 😔, and on two separate occasions, I received commensurate rebuke and encouragement in that regard 🥲. The first was from a friend and accountability partner, and the second was from a sermon at the Missions Conference 🤠.

Lord-willing, I will double down on finalising the scheduling platform next 🤞🏽.

Changed Lives

It was a Wednesday, and had just been shooed off by some muslims who threatened to beat us up 🤠. In their defence, they accused us of trespassing - trying to “proselytise” during one of their festivals 🤷🏽‍♂️. Not too long after, we encountered an old woman who gave us audience .

Seeing that she was communicating in Yoruba, I introduced us, and explained that my brother1 was going to engage her with the gospel in Yoruba 🤠.

"Why not you?", she asked.
"Ma'am, my Yoruba still has training wheels 😭", I explained.

"I'm also not a fluent speaker, but I want you to share the gospel with me in Yoruba", she insisted 🤠.

I struggled through explaining the character of God and the rebellion of man, and it was roughly here that she permitted my brother to intervene 😅.

After we had shared with her, she overflowed with joy .

Apparently, she was already a believer , and even though she is not a local, she regularly evangelises in Yoruba 📢. She prayed for us, opened Scripture before us and even walked with us for a considerable distance 👫🏽👬🏽 before bidding us depart, all the while encouraging us to hold on to Christ ✊🏽.

It was pleasant to have met this woman, and I was encouraged .
I mean, if an Igbo woman could properly read the Yoruba Bible and evangelise in my mother tongue, I have hope 🤠.

Prayer requests

Here are a few specific ways you can pray with me 🙏🏽:

  • Adoration: Please adore God whose love runs deep, even to the point of bleeding and dying for undeserving people like ourselves.

  • Thanksgiving: Please thank God for 🙏🏽:

    • a successful fulfilment of the latest Upstream contract

    • help with keeping short accounts in the past month

    • safe travels in the past month 🚘

  • Forgiveness of Sins: Please ask God to forgive me for:

    • not making progress on Whatchu Believe 🫣

    • eating too much junk 🍫

  • Supplications: Please pray that:

    • I will diligently work on Whatchu Believe’s scheduling platform, to wrap it up soon

    • I eat properly and exercise discipline and self-control as the Lord helps me

  • Intercession: Please pray:

    • that the people of Bhutan encounter Christ as they interact with the content in the recently released app. 🤲🏽

    • that the students and teachers abducted in Oyo state, Nigeria will be released soon. 🥲

I pray intentionally for my partners regularly, and I'd love to know how I could be specifically praying for us. If you are interested, use the button below to share prayer requests, and I'd be happy to join you in praying for them.

Something to think about

Before I resigned from Lune, my bosses gave me a parting gift which included a Swiss Army knife 🗡️. It's proved to be handy ever since, and it was particularly useful while settling into the new apartment .

However, I accidentally cut myself with it, at some point 😬.
Instantly, I saw this ball of rich glistening red fluid seep out of the cut 🩸.

"Oh wow! My blood - how deep and rich and beauti..." [drip🩸] [drip🩸]
"Oh no! I have to stop the bleeding - I can't waste this."

"..also, I may die if I don't 🤠"

It took a while (and a bunch of calls to my mum2) to stop the bleeding, but I'm glad I was able to 🥳.

After a while, it got me thinking, and I'd love to invite you to think about how precious blood is - especially human blood 🩸, and consider with me:

  • How willing would you be to give your blood for:

    • a friend 🌚?

    • a random person 🤔?

    • a sworn enemy 🤠?

  • What about if that would cost you your life 🪦?

Well, Jesus did just that - He shed His blood (wayyy more precious than mine ) and gave His life for His people while they were still enemies, so that in Him they will find eternal life . This act is a beautiful demonstration of love 💝, and the life it produces cannot be found elsewhere!

Have you found this life? Please, look to Jesus if not 🙏🏽.

That’s all for now, {{alias | friend}}! 🤠
See you in less than a month, Lord-willing 🤞🏽

Till then, may we become increasingly acquainted with the depths of God’s love for us in Christ Jesus. 🤲🏽
