Back Home and Ready for Take Off! 🚀

#001

Hello friend,

Welcome to the very first issue of my monthly newsletter. 🥳

I'm excited to share some updates on what God is doing through this ministry, some personal life updates, reflections, and specific ways you can pray. Let's dive in!

Life update

By God’s grace, I'm safely back in Nigeria! 🥳

After 2 months away, it was nice to be with family again, and I'm looking forward to being with Christabelle (my girlfriend) in person soon 🙈.

Settling in has taken about two weeks, and I'm grateful for early financial partners whose contributions were very helpful during this period 🙏🏽.

My biological mum and siblings on a visit to my place during my settling phase.

In about 2 months, God-willing, I plan to have my youngest brother, Olaoluwa, stay with me for about a year of discipleship.

Ministry update

I've been collaborating with organizations like Upstream and Missional Digerati. These groups work alongside missionaries, developing apps that aid their work and build up believers globally. I've really enjoyed contributing regularly, especially at Upstream. However, my recent transition back to Nigeria meant taking a short break during that busy season towards the end of my stay in Dubai. 🫣 I'm happy to share that I resumed working with them again last week. 🥳

Excitingly, God has also been drawing people to volunteer and collaborate with me directly in this ministry! I've spent some time working on some content to get potential collaborators up to speed on the ministry and how they can be involved. Following that, I'm planning to formally kick off my support-raising appointments this week, which I anticipate will last about two months, should the Lord permit. 🤞🏽

Changed lives

Though my software ministry hasn't formally started just yet, 🙈 in the spirit of retrospection, I'd share something I found encouraging:

In the weeks before leaving Dubai, a number of people shared how God used me to encourage them.

I was particularly struck when parents, years after I served at Ignite and Youth (church ministries for tweens/teens), thanked me for discipling their kids.

Some didn't even know I was leaving! 🤭

Mr. Lawrence, for instance, reached out to say “thank you“.

It is easy to dismiss “Sunday thank-yous” as formality 🫣. However, parents reaching out, years later, added more weight to my belief that God was truly transforming their kids 🥳, and this brought me great joy !

It’s really God redeeming and building up His people, and I'm just grateful He’s pleased to use us as vessels 🙇🏽‍♂️. May He continue to use us for His glory 🤲🏽!

Prayer requests

Here are a few specific ways you can partner with me in prayer 🙏🏽:

  • Work & Rest Rhythms: Nigeria's hustle culture is strong, and it would be tempting to “do more” at the expense of proper rest 🫣. Please pray I stick to healthy, God-honoring rhythms of work and rest, so as to sustain a lifetime of healthy ministry.

  • Community & Collaboration: Please, thank God for collaborators who have shown interest 🥳, and pray for wisdom on effectively onboarding and working with them.

  • Humility: As this ministry develops, please pray it doesn’t lead to a build up of more pride – it is a huge temptation.

  • Support-Raising Ministry: Support raising is a vital ministry itself – inviting others to use their God-given resources to partner in His work . Please pray for its effectiveness in building people up and raising the needed funds for this ministry.

Something to think about

While I am excited about building apps for the Kingdom, leaders have cautioned me against neglecting other gifts. It indeed would be silly to say: “I'm devoting just my tech skills, khalas! 😌

God has blessed us with so much more than the gifts we’re most excited about. 😲

I’d like to invite us to consider, with me: 🤔

  • What gifts has God blessed me with in this season? 🎁

  • How am I stewarding them for His glory? 🤲🏽

  • In this stewardship, am I respecting His design for good rhythms of work and rest? ⚖️

Over the next couple of months, I will be reaching out to people to share more about this ministry and opportunities to partner, including through financial support.

If you’d like to be a part of that, you can grab yourself a time-slot here on Cal.

Till then and beyond, may you continue to grow in your knowledge of, and love for God!

Not yet a believer?

I invite you to explore the gospel for yourself.
